Quantum Magnetism with SU(N) Symmetry: A new arena for exotic phenomena
Andreas Läuchli
Professor, Head of the Institute of Theoretical Physics, University of Innsbruck, Austria
In this talk I will review some of our recent theoretical and numerical work characterizing the exciting many body physics inherent to fermionic alkaline earth atoms confined to optical lattices in one and two dimensions.
We will discuss various unexpected types of magnetic order, an example of a gapless quantum spin liquid and a series of SU(N) chiral spin liquids stabilized by a synthetic orbital magnetic field.
