SIMES, the Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Sciences, studies the nature, properties, interactions and synthesis of complex and novel materials. We seek:

To understand the relationship between the electronic and atomistic structure, collective behavior and dynamics of materials and their interfaces.

To apply that knowledge in the creation of affordable, cleaner and renewable energy sources and technologies.
